Remembering Lady Sarah

2006

I had the privelege of knowing Sarah Knox for a short time, before our lives went in different directions. My time with her was rich in the wonderful experiences that Sarah was able to organise for her friends, from walks in the Yorkshire countryside where Sarah was always first to the top of the hill, to a night walk where we got lost, but tackled on with laughter untl we reached a spot for a fire and a cooked breakfast. Her stamina was amazing, her endurance awesome and her courage in the face of personal tragedy was quite remarkable. I emailed her as Lady Sarah, it seemed a fitting title, and even though she asked me why I addressed her so, I could never really put my finger on it, except to say it felt right. I live in Southern Thailand now, and I am very shocked by the news of her passing on. Distance does not diminish my sense of a light going out in Sheffield. Lady Sarah, wherever you are, thank you for walking the lovely wildness of Yorkshire with me. Thank you for your love, compassion for those in trouble and understanding of life. I will never forget you. Twinkling on, Pod
